Jayson Watabe, PA-C Physician Assistant | Functional Medicine & Hormone Optimization Specialist
Jayson Watabe is a certified Physician Assistant with over 12 years of dedicated healthcare experience. He grew up in Tokyo, Japan, and went on to earn his undergraduate degree at Brigham Young University. Before entering medicine, he worked as a school teacher in Provo, Utah — an experience that instilled in him the values of patience, education, and genuine connection with the people he serves.
Jayson received his Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Idaho State University in 2014. His first role as a PA took him to Tuba City Regional Healthcare Corporation on the Navajo Reservation in Northern Arizona, where he spent over seven years working primarily with the General and Trauma Surgery team. He found it deeply rewarding to serve patients from the Navajo and Hopi tribes, an experience that sharpened both his clinical skills and his commitment to compassionate, culturally sensitive care.
Today, Jayson brings that same spirit of service to his work in functional and preventative medicine. He specializes in Functional Medicine and bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, developing personalized treatment plans designed to restore vitality, energy, and optimal function. Rather than simply managing symptoms, Jayson looks beyond conventional approaches to address the root causes of aging, fatigue, and hormonal imbalance.
A central pillar of Jayson’s practice is wellness-based, medically supervised weight loss. He understands that achieving and maintaining a healthy weight is rarely just about willpower — it is deeply connected to hormonal health, metabolic function, inflammation, and overall lifestyle. Using a comprehensive, clinically guided approach, Jayson works closely with patients to develop individualized weight loss programs that may incorporate advanced diagnostics, metabolic optimization, nutritional strategies, and — where appropriate — the latest evidence-based medical therapies including GLP-1 receptor agonists and peptide-based protocols. His goal is not a quick fix, but sustainable, lasting transformation rooted in whole-body health.
His broader wellness philosophy also encompasses advanced cellular therapies, cutting-edge peptide protocols, functional nutritional counseling, and metabolic health strategies — all guided by the principles of longevity and restorative health.
Jayson is proud to call Hawaii home, a place where his mother’s family has deep roots going back four generations. His great-grandfather founded Machida Drugs in Hilo in the 1920s, a beloved pharmacy that served the community for over 100 years. That legacy of healthcare and community service runs deep in his family — and it shows in the way he cares for his patients.
Jayson lives on Oahu with his wife and five children, and the whole family feels fortunate to call this beautiful place home. When he’s not in the clinic, you’ll likely find him on the water — he especially loves spending his mornings deep sea fishing from his kayak.
Jayson is dedicated to empowering his patients with the tools, knowledge, and restorative care they need to maximize their healthspan, optimize performance, and achieve long-term, vibrant wellness.
